How an Agrarian Lifestyle provides Fulfillment and Purpose

Several weeks ago we were honored by a visit from the film crew for the upcoming film, Beyond Off Grid. This documentary looks at the fragility of our current economy and promotes a return to godly living and local economy rather than just reactionary ‘prepping’.
The following video clip is taken from some of my interview for the film. Please consider visiting their site and supporting their work. www.beyondoffgrid.com

  1. Brother,

I am inspired by the comments you make in this video clip. They echo what God has placed on my own heart in the past 6 months. I am currently in the US Army but I am looking at getting out, getting my family away from the constant moving, and settling down into a rural lifestyle where we can glorify God while we get back to the dirt. One of my biggest worries is my lack of skills and background in this kind of lifestyle, but I am trusting God to lead us if we follow Him.

Thank you for your blog and may God continue to bless you and your family.

    1. Aaron,

I am encouraged to hear the journey the Lord has you on! Yours’ is not the first story I have heard like it. There have been several people I know that are/have been in the military who desire to get out and start an agrarian lifestyle with their family. There is a steep learning curve since many farming skills are not commonly known anymore. My suggestion is to do some type of non-farm work that you are qualified for while you start your farming endeavor. If you have never successfully grown some of your own food I would start with that. Then you can move to a diversified homestead where you grow most of your own food. From there you will know what you like and don’t like, what you are good at, and what markets there are in your area. Only after that would I start praying about what commercial ‘cash crops’ enterprises you could add to what you are already doing. Start small, and be faithful with little, and the Lord will add to you.

      In Christ,

      Noah Sanders
